Cupping & tasting sessions at the roast table
Cupping and tasting sessions at HappyDealsClub put you at the roast table with four coffees, a spoon and a guide, every Thursday evening, twelve seats.
max
Ninety minutes, four coffees, zero snobbery
Cupping is the industry's tasting format, same grind, same water, same bowls, which makes differences impossible to hide.
We run it the way a kitchen runs a staff meal: everything on the table, everyone tasting, nobody performing. You'll slurp loudly, that's the point, and by the second bowl you'll taste why we argue about these coffees all week.
Sessions mix tasting skills (what's acidity actually feel like), origin stories, and a vote: the table's favourite often becomes next month's feature roast. It's part tasting, part focus group, part excuse to drink too much coffee on a weeknight.
- Four coffees: two roasts, two processing methods side by side
- Take-home 100 g of the table's favourite
- Small groups, 12 seats, first-timers welcome
- Club members get priority booking and $10 off
Thursday setup
Not into it by the second coffee? Say so at the break and your seat fee turns into café credit, nobody should pay for an evening they didn't enjoy. Rebookings are free up to 48 hours out.
Session pricing
One flat ticket covers the coffee, the guide and the take-home bag.
The Season Pass
Four sessions across the year, one per season, so you taste the menu as origins rotate. Includes the member discount on beans all year.
$150All tasting sessions are 18+ club events, bring ID if you're blessed with a young face.
How a session runs
Structured enough to learn from, loose enough to argue.
Smell the dry grind
Four bowls, four coffees. Ground fresh, sniffed blind. This is where guesses start.
Pour and wait
Hot water over the crust, four minutes. The room goes quiet except for the timer.
Break the crust
Push the grounds back, lean in, the aroma burst is half the reason people come.
Slurp everything
Spoon to mouth, loud and proud. Cooling changes everything, so second rounds matter more than firsts.
Vote and argue
Favourite of the night gets tallied. The roast team keeps a running chart on the wall.
Take the coffee home
100 g of the winning lot in your pocket, notes in your phone, opinions in your head.

Hosted by the roast team
The people who picked these coffees walk you through them.
Dana leads most sessions; Oscar takes over when the wholesale schedule allows. Both cup every lot we buy, so the person answering your question is the one who argued about buying this exact bean. Bring your disagreements, the best sessions are the loud ones.
